After The Wedding – Rock the Frock in the Peak District by Jess Petrie

Author: Boho

rock the frock

I have already spoken about what to do with your wedding dress once you are married, well today Laura Parker shows us what she did with hers before selling it! She put it on and rocked the hell out of it with her husband Chris and dog Flynn.

I’ll pass the blog over to Laura who will tell you more…………

On the 15th December 2013, we went to The Longshaw Estate in the Peak District for a photo shoot with Jess Petrie.

During the months after the wedding we felt like we were lacking in big, wall-worthy portraits to hang on the walls of our newly purchased house, and with a new puppy we wanted to document our little ‘family’. I was feeling a little guilty about leaving the wedding dress in the wardrobe for all eternity, and before deciding whether to sell it or not, wanted to take it out for one last spin!

It was lovely to get dressed up again and go to take some gorgeous pictures without any pressure. At the wedding it was easy to worry that they were ‘The Wedding Portraits’ and I felt an incredible sense of guilt that we were taking pictures when our guests were indoors. It was raining at the wedding, and we really wanted to speak to all of our guests personally rather than pose in the rain! We didn’t, therefore, get the portraits we wanted.

As I’ve been photographed by Jess before I knew she was the woman for the job, and we absolutely adore every single image. A couple of double exposure pictures were the icing on the cake and we’re now short of wall space instead of images!
